You never even marked the position relationship between the nut and pinion shaft with center dots so you could tighten the nut to the same position you loose it from , which would of given you a chance of getting somewhere near the correct bearing pre-load settings

Pinion bearings will be toast now, need to torque pinion nut to spec, using impact will crush bearing sleeve and put to much load on bearings,
