In this video I tackle a very common issue with GM exhaust manifold bolts breaking and causing an exhaust leak. The bolt broke off flush with the head! I purchase a bracket off of amazon to help fix this problem, after I tried for hours to weld a nut onto the end of the bolt so I could get a wrench on it to remove the exhaust manifold bolt from the head.

Have had that issue on a couple ford triton, aluminum head and all corroded up. OTC made a tool that bolts onto the holes you have and has pilots to drill and tap the holes you don't, really takes the curse off of fixing that kind of problem!
This the only reason I have not installed headers. I’m afraid of how many bolts will break. I’ve got the same rear bolt that broke off flush with the head on its own. I’m currently using one of those brackets. It still leaks a little.
I had 8 broke off flush Took me a week to get them out
If Ii am pulling the cylinder head or engine, I always get the bolts extracted. But I have installed several of these brackets with great success
This little bracket turned my nightmare into a dream! Have you wrestled the dreaded broken GM exhaust manifold bolt?
