The GM Ecotec engine has a few known issues, and this is one of them. When the PCV system fails, excess pressure builds up in the engine where it shouldn’t, causing the rear main seal to blow out making oil evacuate the engine immediately.
After inspecting the oil filter and finding no internal damage, we proceeded to repair the cause of the problem and replace the seal. ✔️
