Watch a full tutorial as a 2002 GMC Sierra / Chevy Silverado will have a new tailgate backup camera installed to a previously installed double din touch screen. This camera is installed in the tailgate bezel for an OEM type look for an aftermarket radio.

NOTE: 1999 – 2002 models does not have a canbus data system, so the reverse trigger will have to be pulled from the reverse light positive wire with use of the purple wire in the camera harness. For years 2003 – 2006, when replacing the radio, a smart harness is required, and generally a smart harness will provide a reverse trigger wire for your radio; thus the purple on the camera harness will not be needed.

Does that bezel come in chrome?

@johnwedgeworth4908 says:

I don’t see a video from your library specifically for wiring up a backup camera on a 03-06 Silverado where you don’t have to tie into the reverse light wiring at the taillights. Thanks.

@Tapatio.man209 says:

What if I have a single din but ordered the review mirror w/ screen…. But I still want the ability to turn the backup camera on while I’m not in reverse… same model truck

@ericmercado83 says:

Does anyone know if this will work for the Tahoe or suburban with a liftgate?

@76greenbunnies says:

@SmarOneNine says:

I have the same head unit and back up camera as in this video and on the back of it the harness it has a parking brake wire (purple) and a reverse wire (green) labeled, but in the video hes cutting into the purple/white wire for the camera? And says nothing about these wires on the harness? So confused
