Stop Mold Before It's Too Late: Car Leak Repair Guide! Flooded Buick

Stop Mold Before It's Too Late: Car Leak Repair Guide! Flooded Buick

Dealing with a moldy car due to a persistent car water leak. See how we trace the source of the intrusion to save the interior.

This process covers a challenging repair where we investigate how moisture is getting into the cabin. We use specific automotive diagnostics to isolate the entry point, testing components like the crankshaft pulley area and spraying down the exterior to replicate the issue. This content is for anyone struggling with mystery dampness in their vehicle.

Finding interior mold is never a good sign, so we use an oil absorbent mat and methodical testing to ensure we capture every drop. Proper vehicle inspection is the key to preventing long-term damage, and we show you exactly where to look when the water starts appearing where it should not.

2:21 And this looks like a body shop job not a mechanical job. Send it to the body shop. They are equiped for such things.

I would use a commercial carpet cleaner.

Recommend the car goes to an Upholstery shop to have the car seats removed, the entire carpet and carpet liner be removed exposing the entire car floor. .

Hey Ray, this is my mother in laws car. I have been watching you for awhile and have sent her your way when she is in Florida. You did great on the rear wheel bearing and this. If I can't throw a wrench at it, might as well be you!! Thanks for taking a good look, appreciate it!

What's the Gen Coupe in for?

@secondlifebikes80 says:

you almost need to wear a chemical suit… all that nasty mody water getting blown up from the carpet..Couldn't you have ran the power cord between the door and the jam at the bottom so the window can stay completely closed?

@wtsdms7998 says:

Let me guess, sunroof drains plugged up?

@jg4902 says:

Ha, real men don't wear face shields when aerosolizing nasty water! I'm not a safety nelly but some things may help you not eat dirty water!

@jimsmith4412 says:

Good find Ray! So if the owner ever needs to replace a rear bulb, he/she needs to remove that rear tail light assembly and therefor breaking the gourmet or seal that was applied. Result another leak. Not sure what the engineers were thinking when they designed the tail light mounting assembly.

@A10power says:

Ray, I have a question on your solution. You indicated that there was a waterline in the rear trunk compartment and I think you found the likely leak for that. But how did the water migrate to the backseat area? It appears that trunk area would’ve had to fill up and overflow to get over the hump into the rear seat area and I don’t think that’s possible with all the venting and gaps in a car. So if you could please explain how the water migrated into the interior unless it completely filled the trunk compartment and your call of the waterline was not a real waterline, but actually a carpet stain or what. Please respond. also, it might’ve been a safer solution. If you would’ve put the gasket maker around both the damaged grommet and also a go of it onto the pin that plugs into that. It’s likely that that grommet besides being deteriorated was no longer much of a snug fit around the post on the taillight, and if you put sealant on the post you ever sent she created an insert for the gasket that was made it even more leak proof.
