My girlfriend’s 2016 Buick Encore with GM’s 1.4 Liter Turbo engine was running really bad. Surging and stuttering. A quick scan with my code scanner showed a P0496 code. This is a High Purge Flow code. Indicating that the purge valve/solenoid has likely failed.
Luckily this is an easy fix that anyone can do with no tools. You only need your fingers. The replacement part for me was Standard Motor Products (Made in USA) PN CP781 available with no wait at Oreilly’s Auto Parts for $49 with no wait. You can probably get one cheaper online if you want to wait or use an offshore brand.
The clips might fight you a little but they will come off by hand. Going in is easy, the same way you got it out. Only 3 connections.
This same fix will work for many GM vehicles, Chevy Cruse, GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave and likely more.

I got the same part GM original for 20 bucks from Amazon The code clears out on it's own after a couple days regular driving.
It is really easy and they did call it a purge canister.
Show how to do! Dumb video
What if there's a extra hose connected to the end of the far right hose? My pcv valve has a extra hose for some reason
Can that make it run rough?
How do you remove the code after you have replaced the piece?
That’s a purge valve, not the canister. Canister is back near the fuel tank. Otherwise, good work. Carry on.
