I just changed my diff oil last week. 105k miles Tacoma (RWD). It actually looked great still but glad it's all new in there now.
To avoid this mess do not buy a BMW

LMAO, friend of mine kid just tore up a rear end ,in the conversation he said it's been leaking oil out of the pinion seal
there should be oil leaking otherwise it wont lack of oil.for my pov I prefer try get a 2nd hand parts than repair it.save money and time.
Developed a leak, low diff oil caused bearing failure! Diff oil can last 150k+ with no issues in reliable units.

When you rely on China & India for parts this is what you get – zero reliability
Bmw standard… parts failed all over the place…
So if you wanna fix this where do you buy parts for the diff!!!!
It seems that there is not enough oilor maybe wrong oil. If broken at all there are teeth broken.Used different beemers All my life. Change oil only with anti-slip diff.
Bearing fault
The whole unit is ruined. Need to replace ASAP.
Just cook it down, that’s how antiseize is made
