The Friendly Mechanic video liked above is what I followed to make my video. My video is for entertainment purposes only. My video leaves out important details that the Friendly Mechanic video makes sure to cover. Please watch the Friendly Mechanic video if you are actually doing this repair on your own vehicle. Friendly Mechanic video is working on an N51 car, which has some additional emissions equipment that N52 cars, like mine, do not have. Friendly Mechanic video is also for replacing the gaskets. Since my car is 16 years old and 185k miles at the time of recording, I decided to replace the entire valve cover since it has integrated PCV valve.

Your video on the E91 (wagon mafia!) HVAC blower motor replacement was so good, I subscribed. I've been waiting for another automotive repair video and finally we have another! These are pure gold!
And even though I've done the valve cover job on our N52 a few times, I have to do it again next week and this video couldn't have come at a better time. Thanks for the motivation, and peerless automotive repair content! 😀

My head was spinning! That was WAY more involved than I could have imagined. I was thinking it would involve removing about 10 bolts, pulling out the old part. and bolting in the new one. Voila. This just showed me I never want to do this myseld. I'll stick to my electronics projects.

Always remove the NEG battery terminal, not the POS one. This way, you can prevent sparks when you go back together. Hydrogen gas is a byproduct of battery operation. A real danger of explosion is possible with any sparking. The danger is greater when the battery lives in a confined space like the trunk.
