Just did 2100 mile trip with 2 kids and my Tesla only has 200 miles of range. Kids had a blast, don't let the range things bug you.
Reason #1. I disagree with your opinion. You will not have Range anxiety for 450 miles. That is just poor planning. Drop down to 20 inch wheels and you will have better range and efficiency. I manage to get 4.5 mi/kwh on our East coast trip. Good planning of stops will give you time to rest and charge at the same time. My kids actually chose the Air over our BMW X5 for our upcoming trip. If you use the GT right. You can get 200 miles of range in 12 mins charging.
Reason#2. I agree that the glass roof is hot. I prefer Aluminum but my wife wanted the glass. There is a shade you can buy at Lucid to install and cover for the summer.
Reason#3. Lease, do not buy. The leasing deals are very good. Lease for 3 years and then buy it out after. You will come out ahead. If they fold someone will buy them out. But I doubt as they are backed by Lucid.
Reason#4. Again, Lease will give you better deal
Reason#5. 2022 is not a well buttoned up car. The newer Air has better build quality. How do I know? When I drive a 2022 loaner GT. I prefer my 2024 touring as it feels much more solid.
Reason#6. Visibility is OK IMHO. You are not driving an SUV its a full size car. The problem for me is it is a long car. If you are not used to that. You can curb your tires turning right.
Reason#7. Get a less bulky car seat. The fact that you can open the door 180 degrees makes up for the low roof line.
