How important is that middle grey piece? I’m missing one on a connection

@FeatheredRepairman says:

Part number for this connector at Napa btw is ec2228

For future peeps trying to figure what he did on this connector specifically (for me honda Camshaft Position Sensor): grey piece simply slides up. Then with small flat head screw driver (jewelers), you'll use it to slightly pry the plastic hooks that hook up into the metal part. Apply pulling pressure backwards on the wire you're removing while doing it. You're not pushing the screwdriver head in, just slightly prying down about 1mm, just enough for it to slide out. Then sliding into the new one is as simple as making sure it snaps for each pin!

When repinning a connector does it matter where you put the new wires in the new connector?

@FlipTheTables says:

Thank you so so much

You’re not showing us how to do it, you’re showing us how you do it. Pin orientation in the connector housing is important—not shown. Crimping tool, or soldering on the pin itself? Nope, not shown. Details matter!
