The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gas through the intake manifod and into the combustion chambers. This reduces oxides of nitrogen emissions (NOx).

I got some oil on the inside of the electrical connector does that mean mines failed or just needs cleaning
So I kept getting a P0401EGR insufficient flow I had no carbon buildup in the EGR passages intake and and exhaust are clean so I bought a new EGR valve thinking that would fix the problem. It was a Delphi and I did this test and turns out that even though there was clicking the valve on the EGR valve was not opening so I sprayed some WD-40 in there and kept opening closing it and now it’s opening closing the way it should this just shows you that even on new parts you should test it before putting it on. Thank you for your help and if anyone is wondering, I used a probe three from Harbor freight.
where is EGR valve on a 98 honda civic ex? and what does it look like. can you show me on the web a picture of it
Hello Even though I don't have a check engine light, I used my OBD-II scanner and Car Scanner app to check the EGR system on my Honda Fit 2018. It consistently shows of 99.22%, both when the engine is cold and when it's warmed up. I removed and cleaned the valve, and it was clean with no buildup, and I replaced the gasket, but the reading is still the same. What could be the issue? Is an EGR 99.22% normal? Thank you
Does a 2011 Honda crv 2000cc have the same power & ground positions?
Muito bom! Ajudou bastante, grato!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Will a new gasket require when removing an EGR valve?
I had the code for EGR Valve for my 2014 Acura MDX. I took it out, amazing how carbon built up and clogged the hole. I dumped half of a can b-12 in a small bowl then put the valve in it for an hour. All carbon came loose for cleaning. Put it back in the car and the code didn't come back. It had been 8 months.
Hey I came here to look into the EGR valve on my sonata. Same style connector and I took out the EGR valve and tested it too and it actuated without any issues. There was really no carbon built up either. I put it back in and the code came up (Permanent P401) code. Not enough flow through EGR valve. How is that possible? I looked it up and says the Sensor is internal to the valve. Can I have a bad sensor but a functioning valve? I'm all out of options.
Should the EGR reading same witn Honda Fits EGR?
Awesome explanations
I dont have the 4k ohms I get no reading.
I tried to test continuity using that same bracket on the intake manifold that the engine cover clips on to, to the egr plug ground and nothing showed. That spot works to get the 5v power to show, but trying the harness ground continuity test only beeps when I put the other lead to the battery negative or some spots near where the battery is grounded also worked.
Very good video
You didn't mention replacing the gasket. This is a "while you're at it" moment when it only takes a few minutes and a few dollars extra to be sure you don't create a problem.
Also, it the two studs are corroded, you may want to add a TINY bit of anti-seize lube. But, if you do, you should skip the torque wrench because any kind of lube can confuse a torque wrench when you finish tightening the nuts.
Just what I needed TY! Love that u are straight to the point and deliver information perfectly
Thanks for the knowledge.
I am confused about why you used 12v. If the other
connector has 5.88V you should use 5.88V for testing.
you are the KING of troubleshooting!
