It's coming Ivan ! Newer cars, hybride, full electric., plastic and computers everywhere
aka honda cr-v
Nice video Ivan.
Battery blower? Now they need to design a refrigeration unit for the fuel tank to slow evaporation and make the fuel more combustible.
A battery fan, even for AGM that's unnecessary. It's not even close the the exhaust or turbo. Good job.
Great job Ivan. Always learning something new on your channel!
You are fantastic! I like that: Negative parts required!
I thought I saw it all… This is nothing more than built in obsolescence!
Aim a inline duct fan from inside the grill to the battery with any kind of pvc pipe or tubes , and use it`s original power source , or big cpu fan over it .
I think the key word here is it is a battery “vent” fan. That could imply that the engineers thought hydrogen gas could accumulate under the cover while charging so they wanted to move it away from the battery and any possible spark. Might be a result of the stupid stop/start process being used today because previous generations that don’t use it don’t have the fan. Auto manufacturer bean counters skimp every were they can so they must have thought it warranted it to prevent costs down the road. Personally eliminating all the engine vanity covers and just ducting air at the battery makes more sense to me.
Still don't think that's a proper repair!
Would be interesting to know why Acura is using that fan set up. I would want to know before eliminating it permanently and depending on what is discovered, I may just decide to install a new fan if there is no explanation for its purpose. Too bad the DTC's are not more accurate in this problem.
I better check my '19 MDX. got it used 2 months ago for a reasonable price. Last year the race bearings were replaced under recall so the engine is runs perfect.
I'm sure the bean counters weighed the cost of a larger battery vs. fan cooling an undersized one, and the fan was cheaper.
Ivan you’re a genius. Love to see your commitment and dedication to solving problems. Very impressed with your diagnostic capabilities. Well above the majority of us and grateful you are willing to share your knowledge!
Hi Ivan, I have a 2018 MDX, and I recently disconnected the cables from the battery to reset the computer. When I was re connecting that small plug I noticed that it did not click in securely, so I put a zip tie on it to keep it engaged. That small gray ground connector might be the issue.
11:45 You got to give it the Ole Eric O classic reach around.
Too much stuff to cause problems! Thanks Ivan!
Even though I've been doing this for 45 years, I still surrender to the fact that the designers that put a part in may know more than me. I try not to leave parts off cars. just repair the damn thing.
Negative parts- positive customer
With all this intelligence you would think a car could be made better, but no, every week more recalls. More problems and cars that cost more money. It never ends.
Soon you'll be diagnosing cars still on the delivery TRUCK!
They have cold air tubes for the engine couldn't they do that for battery cooling?
I really want to know what the heck a battery fan is.
