I had this same message Low Battery for two years and it keeps on starting just fine. Replace when it's actually dying, not when it shows those messages.
I've seen elsewhere that you're supposed to keep the ignition at position ll with the head lights on when connecting the new battery so the power surge from the connection will not mess up the temp sensor inside the dash.. (for earlier S60s) Also that you need to keep the computer connected with a OBD 2 connector to the computer settings don't get messed up.
You should also wear rubber gloves when you do this.
Went to my local Battery's Plus. They cautioned against changing the battery. They said changing the batter would require dealer service to reset the computer. Anyone heard of this? 2016 XC60 T5 with Start Stop.

What about the battery counter reset? If that is not done then battery will discharge more quickly.

You seemed to have forgotten mentioning the vent tube.
Had a dead battery, car was fine day before. Jumped with another car. Now radio wont work, infotainment stuck on nav screen.
You missed a significant step in the hand book, take the Key out of the slot 5 minutes prior to removing the battery
