►If you have an 06-08 VW GTI or GLI, Mk6 Golf R, B7 Audi A4, or a myriad of other cars with the FSI EA113 engine, one of the most common oil leaks is from the oil filter housing itself. As the oil filter housing on this engine is a point of high pressure and high volume, once it begins to leak, it can quickly become severe and should immediately be replaced.

Most of the oil filter housing leaks on the EA118 engine begin at about the 150,000-200,000 mile mark or roughly 10-12 years old. Although it is usually the gasket that leaks, the majority of the time, the housing itself is warped and brittle around the gasket surface – replacing just the gasket is a surefire way to have to go back in and tackle this job again.

While you’re replacing the oil filter housing gasket, it’s recommended to replace a few other parts while you’re in there. In this video, we cover how to replace various PCV hoses as well as the dipstick and dipstick tube.
