Thats why I thought of buying used GTI and quickly realized it and bought new 2018 GTI with 6 years 72,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty and getting rid of it when warranty is up.

John Koops says:

Moved for the company. First 30 days got a Corolla as loaner. Only after I got a Jetta for the next 30 days I realized how incredibly dull the Corolla was. Bought a used Passat then – total moneypit. Shame VW quality went down. As a young man I had a Golk Mk 2. Indestructible.

Robin Petrillo says:

I have had 2 GTI's both brand new 3 year lease's I drive hard on them so far ZERO anything. But it goes bye bye every 3 years but the fun factor WOW not like a Toyota.

Sajed Alfakhri says:

I disagree with you , we have a 2011 GTI and a 2008 GTI , till this day , one of them at 160k miles , They're great , fast and reliable , I agree that some VW cars are crap , but the GTI is the real deal believe me .

Tim Flohr says:

I know this is anecdotal, but I wouldn't consider it luck or coincidence. I've had a 2006, 2010, and now a 2016 GTI and they've all been trouble free without any major repairs well past 100k. I put over 50k on my 2016 GTI in the last 12 months with nothing more than tires and oil and filter.

Dirk Tolenaars says:

Hi Scotty,
What is a good and reasonably priced sports car?

TimonNetherlands says:

In Europe I buy a kit of brake disks and pads for 30 usd for my VW. Takes a long time to fill up that money pit.

A S says:

I don't get it I have heard a million stories of people who's VW have no problems and some that have been running upto 600,000km as well. I feel your experience is only one side of the coin. I work in the industry and check for feedback all day and I hear a lot more positive than negative. Sad to see your experience being negative in most of your cases. if you love driving cars VW is for the conscientious car lover. A Toyota unfortunately is not.

GJL625 says:

Scotty we all know you love Jap cars. However, when it comes to American or European who do you believe makes a better car and gives you the most bang for your buck.
