Thanks. I keep getting leaks. Tomorrow will be my 3rd go. I think the gear
oil is collecting dirt. What kind of tea, PG Tips?
JournalBT, I had the same problem on my 64′ Type 2… running through
everything but the rebuild kit has only 1 washer, where on the video it
looks like 2 are used… seems like I’m missing an outer washer?
Great video. I was simply planning to follow the rear wheel bearing
assembly as shown in exploded view in the Bentley manual. I am glad I saw
this video first. I clearly see how the big sealing ring actually “holds”
the paper gasket in place and then the cover with both the oil seal and oil
deflector is installed at the end. Great video! I have subscribed to your
videos right away. Thank you!
Thank you for your excellent series. When I removed our brake drum, the
(hub oil seal) spacer came out too. It does not slide back in easily and
the drum will not go on all the way now. Will I have to remove the hub oil
seal carrier to in order to get the spacer back in (and will gearbox oil
spill out?)? 1970 VW Beetle 1600cc. Thanks!
