Thanks for the video! I was able to replace the belt from the top. A 3/8 ratchet with a 4” extension on the handle was just long enough that I could press down and hold the tensioner with my weight and pull off the belt easily with the other hand. Pretty much a 10 minute job after the hour it took to figure it out 🙂

Wow. That's a lot of work for a belt. Gotta love German engineering. I have a 2009 gti and it needs a new tensioner. Is it the same process pretty much or will I be able to replace it from the top?
