bug Den says:

i was trained on this type of ignition in the 70's , for me its not having to check timing every so often , with this you can have a little peace of mind about that task ,,,,,dont forget to install a resistor so you dont exceed amps and burn it out ! have a good day

Jimmi Boi says:

Awesome video I got this exact kit, guys you have made my day 🙂

Pacifico VW says:

Yeap, better starts in the cold, even if your sparkplugs are not in the best of shapes, and it's just install and no need to fiddle with it for years, as opposed to points, one less thing to worry about.

Edinburgh Tumuran says:

That was cool. Thanks.

Brian Hall says:

Do you have to pull the distributor to do the upgrade? I don't know much about reinstalling the distributor.

William CRAZY LACY Furmage says:

I just installed a pertronic on my 72 2.0 Pinto with the Flame thrower coil as a kit I got it from ebay $128 . I reset the timing, drove it and it kicks ass, 80 miles later it starts backfiring and powering down on my way to the swap meet, tac jumps to zero then back up to normal. I pull over and car idles fine. but as i get in the gas it's having trouble picking up to speed while I'm letting the clutch out, I feather it, it gets going then bogs and backfires LOUD AS HELL, lol. at least 20-30 times while I'm getting her home about 5 miles away. I switch out the coil, still the same bogging. then I start checking coil wire, alternator wires and a few other connections, Now it's seems ok, Then last night, It acted up again.

I'm hearing from some youtubes to run a hot from the steering column to the hot on the pertronix wire?? by doing that, I'm guessing you leave it off the coil if you're doing that type of wiring?

Brandon Carrigan says:

Or Porsche 912e lol

Ed Weigman says:

What about the vacuum advance. Does that get removed?

hussian mohmmad says:

Coil pack and only negative signal and you cancel dispuroter… ..GM COIL PACK 3WIRE
1.GND
2.12VOLT IGN
3.SIG (FROM COND OR ENGINE SPEED SEN)
ALSO CAN USE VW COIL PACK AND OUT PUT 4 WIRE FROM COIL IT SELF

Ari Ferdiansyah says:

Bro where I can buy it

Ricardo Rios says:

E-man Deluxe says:

Great helpful video Gary! I am still running points but maybe someday will do this and keep as a backup. Nice! Thanks

kg4qpb Laureano says:

Thank you I don't know what to do now I'm very depressed all this time waiting for the engine and they send me one that I can't install the Heater Box .

Rob Stapleton says:

Points do work fine but it sure seems like you always have to mess with them.. The Pertronix would be more of a set it and forget it. Can you give us a review in a few months to let us know how it's doing?

CT says:

Awesome video my friend! Keep them coming please! =)

kg4qpb Laureano says:

a question on another topic My engine from mofoco finally arrived when I was installing the heater boxes one stud was stripped I try to removed and it broke now I have a head with a broken stud and a broken drill bit on it my question is can i change that head only and used one i have from another motor or I have to change both

Slades VW Beetle says:

Great Video!! I never tried pertonix yet. I imagine it is smoother. I should try that this time around.

JW Classic VW says:

Good video brother!! Great tip to keep the points… or the extra distributor handy just in case.

Big W Adventures says:
