Brock O'Bama says:

A scan tool? I thought people just asked strangers on Facebook for a diagnosis.

X says:

Ppl have legitimate questions! U don't have to argue? If in fact u do read all comments you would know this. We all subscriber to gain knowledge; but it is a two way street. You're channel suffers because you don't provide feedback.
U responded that "ppl will just argue" ppl.want answers. Thanks

Guy Elsenburg says:

e H says:

Valve cover job (and pray there are no surprises under the covers). Yes, replace the plug wires+boots. I'd be interested in in hearing about why not use NGK plugs.

sonofliberty66 says:

Timing belt, timing belt, timing belt.

While you're at it do the water pump and thermostat. You don't want to be driving down the road and that belt snap, while it's a non-interfering belt, you don't want to have to call a tow and be stuck.

Make that 4runner healthy again! Take care of that 3.4 and she will take care of you for many many miles.

Craigie F Concert says:

That’s pretty nice Petr that you’re teaching him as well as fixing the car. To own a vehicle like this you need to be able to troubleshoot. He should have at least a basic code reader. He could have looked up the code himself. He also could have looked at the wires and found the loose one and the oil. First thing to do is always look at things very closely and carefully.

Kathleen says:

This is a great opportunity for Isaac to really see his motor. Time to tend all the rubber bits with a critical eye anyway. No worries, it will be worth the time to have your engine in order, Isaac.
Go for it! You will improve it.
I drove my first 4runner for 17 years. "Hands on" works.

C Wilczak says:

Yes all sounds good to do. I would replace the PVC valve an hope that will be all. Great video, helping this young man!

Lucas says:

i wish i lived near by. i have a 2002 tacoma prerunner 3.4 v6. i just picked up a random check engine, and half my instrument lights dont come on. i am new to your channel but the knowledge you share is appreciated, Thank you! im watching ur vavle cover gasket replacement video now too

dominic bassis says:

Great video. I would also do the ignition coils. When I did mine did all the stuff you mentioned plus the ignition coils and runs fine now.

WV Taco says:

Peter, I had a 4.0 L V6 Tacoma that had Denso plugs on one side and NGK on the other. Why do you not recommend NGK plugs?

Brian X says:

I wonder if the previous owner put motor honey in it and that new oil change caused the leak to show.

Kydex Academy says:

I did my own oil gasket, 8 hours, but I knew I did a great job.

Hugh Koontz says:

I'd change the oil and filter while it's there.

David & Elizabeth says:

Good job, Isaac! Good on you for wanting to learn how to work on your own vehicle.
❤❤❤

Lawrence Jensen says:

I've got some oil in my spark plug tubes I need to change the gasket but it's below zero here now and I no cheated garage.

Gadget Review Videos says:

The other things that you should:
Replace and seal the cam caps.
Clean and seal the half moons with some Toyota FIPG.
Replace the valve cover bolt washers.
Make sure not to skip replacing those spark plug tube seals.
Replace the manifold gaskets.
Replace the PVC valve.
Clean the throttle body while it’s apart.
Check the fuel injectors and other wires and hoses while you have the manifold off.
Scott
P.S. You have a good mentor helping you. You got this Isaac.

Reagan L. says:

FYI your around the same mileage when my 2000 4wd 4runner started leaking intercooler to radiator fluids. I suggest you soon buy a separate transmission intercooler and bypass the integrated one in the radiator. You dont want antifreeze in the tranny and tranny oil in the cooling system…when this happens it is sudden and without warning.

LB Productions says:

The only thing left is a fundraiser for Isak's Toyota 4Runner! Where do we donate?

yWilhem Raymond says:

Change the pvc valve and clean the throttle

MPGunther1 says:

Sounds like when you get the next task complete, Isaac should be in good shape. You are doing both sides, Right?

Dave Derryberry says:

I don't understand the need to replace the SP wires. Aren't they sealed? If you install the plugs and coils, and everything is working, why the additional expense of the wires?

Herschel DeCouto says:

i know i might get a negative response from other posters but if we are going to start taking apart the engine due to bad seals and gaskets on this aging 4runner i would try to determine if head gaskets were ever replaced. if not i would go ahead and do the full job and replace all the gaskets all around using highest quality gaskets toyota labeled, or oem equivalent, at once and consider machining the heads as well.

great channel and videos btw…

Jurist says:

That was a horrible video. All you did was berate and belittle Isaac. You’re the one who has a YouTube channel don’t bring him into it. Constant interruptions, constant correction. Just annoying as hell.

Taha Hadada says:

great training program ,what a legend .

nvdice says:

Great job on helping teach Isaac about his vehicle. Your a very king mechanic to help take the time to do that on your busy schedule. Good that he is willing to learn with a good attitude as well.

Brian Royer says:

I agree and this is something to check when purchasing a older used vehicle. This is also a good negotiation tool when purchasing from an owner. Pull out the spark plugs wires and look for oil in the tubs and on the boot. Really appreciate you passing you thought process on to the next generation!!
