I have a 2015 4 runner with valve noise so laud it sounds like a diesel. M ny on the forums report this engine making this noise as "normal" …It bothers me?
the 4.0 has a complex VVTI the old 3.4 has a basic valve train
This is why I stick with Chrysler.
Toyota should replace the entire engine if they can't figure it out
im probably just deaf but I couldn't hear a difference only just the newer was louder turning on

Any news on the fuel pump?
I just bought a used 2015 Toyota Highlander with 30k. It developed a regular ticking noise in the engine. I was told not to worry about it after listening to it with a stethoscope.
