Having dashboard problems? Does your ABS, Check Engine, and Brake Lights light up and does the Speedometer stay at 0 mph and Tachometer flicker intermittently? Sounds like an ABS module problem and you can thank the bastards at Toyota for making a defective module for this car and not doing a recall on it. Heck, they’ll even charge you $2500 at the dealership to fix this – what they quoted me – plus they said they’d replace the ABS pump and flush the brake fluid, if they even do that…But why would they when you can just replace the module when the car’s running fine otherwise? A local mechanic quoted me $800 to fix this as well, still a fucking ripoff considering I’ve taken perfectly good care of my car for 10 years and up to 95,000 miles.
So I did a little research on a site called YouTube and found many people had the exact same issue I was having and just fixed the module by replacing it with a newer or repaired one. I would have continued to drive the car until it reached 300,000 miles like my last 2003 Camry did but my friend gave me his Honda.
**I would have continued to drive the car with the broken ABS and lights flickering BECAUSE THE ODOMETER DID NOT INCREASE, MAINTAINING THE CAR’S VALUE WHILE YOU DRIVE!!! Just thank Toyota for this :)**
So, if you want to keep your car’s value with the mileage staying the same for years while driving a perfectly operational vehicle, then sell it down the line after you replaced the ABS module with an operational one is entirely your decision. Just thank Toyota for that 🙂

Your English is a little Russian are u ???

Arthur Quintana says:

I was reading on toyotanation thst the abs module fails because brake fluid leaks inside and causes the shorting out of the lights and dash guages. I also have a power stearing leak from the reservoir near this abs module that could be causing my short. Just FYI. Thanks for the video.

mckoy lach says:

ok, thanks for clearing that up

I have a 09 camry, with ABS light comes on, flashing then shut off, then repeat again. . . not all the time though. . .

mckoy lach says:

First of all, you didn't show that, you diagnosed the ABS module, before replacing it. it seems you are absolutely sure, when ABS light turns on, and some other related problems, you replace the ABS module. . . shouldn't you diagnose it first, before replacing it?

Natalie Clem says:

My 2007 Camry is having the same trouble! I am searching for the part now at my local junkyards, but wondered if you can tell me how you disconnect the battery as you mentioned in the video? Thank you so so much for this video!

Eddoh Anthony says:

Am having the same problem with Toyota Camry 2005. The brake light on and speedometer not working. Will this solution still work with my own model since it's not a 2008 model? Thanks

Allan Stuart says:

Thanks for posting, didn't realize this is a problem on so many Toyotas. My question is, until I fix it, IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE? I understand that the ABS may not operate correctly, but are the brakes still ok?

iambademmy says:

Hello, Thanks for this. I am having this problem now just sometimes it works fine sometimes its crazy. Do you think cleaning the module will resolve mine or do I just change it already. Thanks

A. Lora says:

I have an 09 Camry that was doing the same thing. Went to a pick and pull and bought one for $70. Pulled it off an 08 model and it’s working fine.

Janet Navarro says:

I did everything you did, but my brake light is on. Speedometer and AC is working though. Any thoughts?

Anthony G says:

Hello, i have been experiencing the symptoms you have listed, the ABS & brake lights on, the speedometer and AC not working… Just recently the engine light came on and the brake pedal started making a hissing noise as if air was coming out when I pressed the pedal and it's taking a lot more effort to stop. I took the car to the dealer and they said it's the ABS actuator… Is that the same as the module in this video? Were you experiencing problems with the engine light on and the brake pedal acting up too? Please help!

Bharath M says:

Hello, great video. Wish I found this earlier. 🙁 🙁 I am experiencing same issue with my 2008 Toyota Camry even after getting my ABS module replaced for $1700 🙁 The store says there is some electrical issue that is beyond their expertise which is causing the ABS module to go bad. I have a suspicion that they installed a bad ABS. Is there a way I can confirm this on my own, so that I can ask them to rework.

Edmundo Lopez says:

I have a cuestión, no need drain system

Emon says:

Hi there, having same problem since last 1 month and after watching your video i bought the module from online for $75. I just received it today and find out it comes with the pump as well. So i am gonna put it tonight but my question is my fuel meter is also doing crazy thing. While i am driving sometimes the fuel meter is going down for a while then after few moments again its going up where it was at the first point. Sometimes when the car has quarter fuel left and driving it goes near to the empty fuel bar and low fuel light comes up then automatic it goes back to the quarter mark. I mean its very confusing. I used to get 400+ miles before with full tank gas(2.4 L camry se 2009). But now-a-days i am getting 280+ or 300 and this abs problem bugging me and also the fuel meter is annoying. Is it because of the failing abs module? So wondering if you can help with any suggestion or something. Would really appreciate. I got a video of the problem. Thanks in advance

Hi, I replaced the abs module just as you said and it is still not working. I went back to the junkyard where I purchased the part at and he asked me if I cleared the codes. I told him I know nothing about clearing any codes. I went to Advanced Auto and had the codes cleared but my problem still exists. What an I doing wrong? Do you know anything about clearing the codes or do I need to get another part? Thanks

Khomcali Em says:

thanks for sharing this video. I got a 2008 camry, it just reasonly giving me this exact the same problem. now I know what to do.

Bryan Press, DPT says:

I'm having this problem and was told my AAA mechanic that this part  could not simply replaced but also had to be " "programmed" by the dealer for my car or it would not work. Tried  to charge my hundreds for programming. Do you know anything about this?

NatureLover says:

How did you find out this is the part needs to be replaced? Was there any trouble code?

Frank. T says:

Good job.. Another guy replaced the whole motor. Your way there is no need to bleed and no mess. Can you buy that circuit part brand new or can you only get the whole unit?

denamma says:

I have the same problem and I have a 2007 Camry.  The dealer is trying to charge $2400 dollars to fix this. Do you need to bleed the brakes for this?
