I have a 97 Camry with the 2.2l automatic. I’m on my 3rd transmission but it’s got the stock engine. After doing a full performance exhaust (stainless headers, high flow cat, and a tuned cat back from OBX), cold air intake, and a mild tune I can say that the 2.2 L 5sfe engine is practically bullet proof.
My 1991 Toyota Truck (original owner) and 1998 Toyota RAV4, both VIN-J (Made in Japan), both manual transmission, both SOLID as a ROCK! ¡¡VIVA la TOY!!

Recently just sold my 01 Camry with the 5S-FE 2200 motor because I upgraded to a 4runner. I bought it with just over 200k and drove it for almost 4 years putting many miles on it to work and back, it still ran and drove great! Most reliable car I've ever owned
I don't care if it runs like a clock or a refrigerator, I didn't work hard my whole life to drive around in an old piece of crap.
