I can see the added complexity to the hybrid but what about the high mileage cars? I own a 2014 hybrid with 240k and it is great. I have seen batteries go for 1000, the "transmission" for 800.

The 8th generation, 1998–2002 Corolla is also known for oil consumption problem. Holes in piston need to be drilled out & gummed rings replaced.

I have Corolla 2002. It takes a quarter oil for 1000 miles. After oil change it lasts for 1500 miles and after that oil filling game starts until the next oil change.
