The only way to properly solder a joint is to use leaded solder. The new stuff is just plain brittle.

Definitely a LOT more bald eagles than there were 10 years ago. Used to be we'd see one (here in Michigan) once every few years, now nearly every time I go walking in a state park I see at least one sometimes one or two pairs.
