Thanks for watching this video!
The JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi v3 rolling project takes another step forward. Another small detail but one that’ll make quite a visible improvement.
The front wiper arms are corroded and look awful. In this video I show you how I refurbished them
My process:
– [ ] Lighted the bonnet to gain access to the wiper and bolts
– [ ] I applied a line of tape to the windscreen to mark the line of the wiper blade to ensure I can refit the arm on the correct spline later on.
– [ ] Using a 15mm socket I removed the retaining nuts from each wiper arm
– [ ] Using a wiper arm removal tool and some parallel pliers I got the arms off the car.
– [ ] Then using 240 grit wet & dry paper I hand sanded the arms to remove the aluminium corrosion and rust.
– [ ] Then I wiped all surfaces down with panel wipe.
– [ ] Hung the arms from my garage door and sprayed them with a coat of etch primer
– [ ] After five minutes I sprayed the first coat of satin blank onto the arms
– [ ] After five more minutes I applied the second coat
– [ ] After ten minutes I took the freshly painted wiper arms down and carefully clipped the wiper blades back on.
– [ ] I carefully lined up the wiper blade with the tape in the windscreen and pushed the wiper arm onto the splines shaft
– [ ] I used the 15mm socket to tighten the retaining nut.
– [ ] Done!
