So i have to do this on my 17 XT and im wondering what the use of the overflow plug is for? Is that too ensure that youre not overfilling or what?

@GJJC13 says:

Excellent. Newbie question: do I have to change the front and rear differential fluids?

@michaelvadney5803 says:

I thought that you had to have the car off the ground and go through all of the gears slowly after filling and wait for the tranny temp to reach 95F or so. Then reinspect the fluid level one more time?

@sammckarm6037 says:

Good job of explaining

@w00tplayaw00t says:

Can you do CVT drain and fill for TR690?

@mrtickles5982 says:

Hmm… dealership tech here. Finnish Subaru service program says change front diff fluid every 60,000km.

@romeorozeta4998 says:

Do we need to buy crush washers when we do a change?

@DaDaDo661 says:

Is there a gasket on each of those plugs?

@shurdi3 says:

Who the fuck thought to replace a 3/8 or 1/2 square drive with a t70 on the plug?

@stevenlacombe1040 says:

I never understood why there needs to be a fill and overfill? I'd say it's just for a more convenient fill hole, but engineers dgaf. What would be the harm in filling through the overfill?

@bigdaddymak1439 says:

With modern synthetic fluids 60k is more reasonable interval. We did 30k 30 years ago with conventional fluid. What year did they move the CVT cooler to the side of the diff??

@Rejecturself897 says:

Lifetime fluid for the warranty lifetime

@johnnyolson258 says:

Who the hell has a T70?? Most of my torx sets stop at 55-60

@williamevans6522 says:

Don't forget to do the rear at the same interval.

Question. The first one I did there were two other (for a total of three) same exact plugs within inches of the actual fill plug (this is passenger side). Had to pop them all open one by one and shoot fluid in and watch the backsplash of the fluid hitting a wall, literally. There was also one more plug with same exact issue on the driver side pretty much dead on where the plug was on the other side. Obviously found the correct one in less than five minutes and five wasted quarts, but finally the question. Have you ever encountered these faux plugs? Is it a manufacturer thing where a certain one will be used depending on the model it’s put in? Was I just hallucinating (no the plugs were not bolts supporting or holding something together). Can’t wait to hear how dumb I sound. This is the only one that has thrown me for a loop in over five years.

@elice05 says:

What’s that liquid ur spraying to clean it up??

@learningwithjuan says:

Joe this is so well made.
