Just an FYI – the refill maybe lasted a day before leaking out again. There definitely is a leak in the system. I’ll have to track it down one of these days. so enjoy that cool A/C before it leaks out I guess…

Love your video!!!!!!! I've had the same problem with my 2000 Outback the last four years (previously checked the fuses and relay as they compressor wasn't engaging), and went through the troubleshooting steps without getting no where with my AC. Tonight I started listening to your video and it sounded just like my words explaining the problem to everyone, ever since it failed for years ago, except my voice is from me, as a girl. Sure enough, it was the fix!!! I purchased my A/C freon charge can a few months ago but was waiting for someone to help me troubleshoot my A/C further.

Robert Weber says:

Just replaced my '14 Forester A/C Compressor and clutch assembly. Dealer said the compressor had an electrical issue. Get appintment setup with dealer and then call Subaru of America to see if they will help you. That is what I did this week.

GrugTheJust says:

Not freon (R-12), that was outlawed in '94. Why they label the new stuff as "Freon" is beyond me, and terribly incorrect. Currently R134A is Tetrafluoroethane, which is likely to be replaces sooner than later with Tetrafluoropropene which is notably better for climate change potential.

Must be awesome living in California!!

"So I guess we're gonna have to take a trip to Autozone and get this figured out"
Instantly a 3 second O' Reilly's commercial pops up

Scott Schuster says:

Didnt last did it…..mine went same as yours but….it turns out the compressor was leaking at the high pressure end connection. Not yet sure what to do about that. After charging and car turned off, an audible hissing from the compressor until pressure is totally lost.

Storm S says:

Well you are still in the Woods !! And an OVER FILLED system Which Blows The Compressor!!!!
A. You need to go back to Autozone and get and get a vacuum pump and set of r134 gauges and a can of dye and glass and UV light
B. When the compressor does not start you have something leaking the Schrader Valves get hard and they leak the freon Also the CAPS may leak. Also note you will find a Connector on the high side that you can remove the connector and manual start the compressor by shorting the connection for checkout If this

D: When Freon Leaks out the Moist Air Come in and You may FREEZE You System and BYE BYE Compressor. You Also need to recover the Freon before fixing the problem .

AutoZone should PUT a Video UP in there Store to warn DIY people …You could be looking at $400.00. repair !!!!

My 2007 WRX just started having the same issue with the A/C. Push the button and no click/compressor operation. I’m going to pick one of these cans up after work. Thanks for the vid!

Chris Beatty says:

This helped man. Thanks. Thumbs up.

Michael Bullington says:

For Cheesy…never had to do it before; thanks for the how-to.

Filip laskovski says:

My ac compressor works but there's no cold air ? Would a regas fix it ? Or is there a leak. Do you have to regas the ac at all or only if it leaks ??

enrique amaya says:

i would inject some dye into the system because refrigerant doesn't just disappear. Most likely you have a very slow leak somewhere. In my Subaru when I had this problem the O-rings on my high and low pressure side that connect to the air compressor where leaking which is common for subarus. I went down to subaru spent no more than $10 and replaced them its pretty easy to get to its just a 10mm or 12mm bolt, the lines are just sitting right on top of the compressor pretty easy stuff had them replaced in 10 minutes.

Cali WRX says:

I don't recall what hospital AC smells like… haha.
