How To Install Front Speakers 2002 Subaru WRX

In this how to I go through the steps of installing aftermarket front speakers in my 2002 Subaru WRX wagon. This should apply for the 2002-2007 subaru wrx years. Fairly simple install just crimping positive and negative and plugging it back in. I chose the Kenwood KFC-1665S from Crutchfield. Great service from Crutchfield got my stuff in 1 day! I wasn’t intending on purchasing front speakers but they were on “heavy” discount so I figured why not. Crutchfield was nice enough to throw in the wiring harness and the spacers needed to fit the speakers in the door frame for free.

When I took off the panel and cut the speaker plug I connected the two +’s and -‘s and plugged that into my speakers and no sound came out… can you help?

Same steps for 2002 2.5rs?

Joe Santos says:

Nice video thanks. Do you have a sedan or wagon? I have a 02 wagon and considering changing all speakers. I’m looking on crutchfield as well

Nick Izzo says:

Yo where did you get those carbon fiber pieces for the interior? Been looking all over, really like the look!

Joshua says:

My wrx has the same fake carbon fiber on the doors and stuff

John Magee says:

I really wish you had just taken the door off too…I feel like that part is pretty difficult for a newb like myself.

Nice of you to post the video to help people. If you reinstall the moisture shield / plastic sheet that came oem, your bass response will go up a good bit. The idea is to seal the rear of the metal door from the front. Some people use a ton of sound deadener, but the oem type cover is decent.

GOLDSWE says:

How can u have 6.5 inch speakers??!

EL DOGG says:

Did that speaker adapter come with the speakers or did you purchase that separately? It seems like the three hole design doesn't fit a lot of the aftermarket adapters.

Michael B says:

So how do they sound? I'm considering the same speakers for the rear of my Impreza
