How often do these things go bad, typically?

Are you burning oil? I've burned a quart every 2000 miles since day one, always on the 0W 20. I'm at 45,000 miles now and for some reason the last thousand miles I've burned nothing for the first time. More Subaru weirdness. I have noticed that switching to a NAPA gold filter the oil is always clean, something that could not be said for the stock filter.
