Starter replacement 2007 Saturn ION 2.2 Ecotec

2007 Saturn ION ignition problems, not turning over, testing and replacement of starter. How to replace a Saturn ION Starter. Just a correction to be technically correct. I keep pointing to the solenoid and calling it the “starter”. It is all part of the same assembly, they came together as one piece. Starter assembly replacement help starts at 2:15.

Dude, thanks for the video. I have to move the starter in order to replace the oil pressure switch. (Poor location) It leaks but now more than ever.

I just did one of these, and yeah, you can reach it from the bottom. But taking out the intake is fairly easy and you can jumper the battery connector on the starter to the pull in winding connector next to it and verify the operation of the starter. Also, if you pull the starter it can be bench tested at most auto parts stores. This was an ok video. And it was helpful. Thank you for taking the time.

I am about to get one so I need to know how to do everything like fixing

Your instructions just wasted $200 for a new starter! That test that you outline at the beginning of the video results in a click at the starter (and activates the fuel pump), but does not turn the engine over. There is no need to remove anything on the top of the engine to access the starter either. From underneath, a 15mm socket on an extension can easily reach the top bolt (just feel around until the socket lands on the bolt), and the bottom bolt is in plain view.

For the remote start jumper across the relay pins, what relay was removed?

I replace mine a couple of years ago on the same car 2007 and I did it from the bottom and boy was it a pain in the butt but I was able to do it and now it went out again thinking to myself "I never want to do this again on this car" thanks for the video
