Safety observation..never work on brakes on a car without using jack stands..this is an accident waiting to happen..

Rick Nohr says:

I wish he would have shown how and where he hit the bearing with his hammer.

s34nVideos says:

It's good to knock the cv axle in before you start whacking at the old bearing.
Sometimes the cv sticks to the bearing on the splines and its hard to seperate the cv from the bearing afterwards

Thanks for the video

why would you not put the correct wheel bearing back in it???? You know the one that has ABS !!!

Michigander says:

Thank you for the video. It was helpful. I Found exact Torq specs Front axle nut is 151 foot pounds – rear axle nut is 81 foot pounds. Also used a small wire brush on my drill, a flat screw driver and break cleaner and canned air and paper towel to clean off the surface. I see why you used your knife. Was quite a lot of rust build up.

Michigander says:

You skipped the hardest part!!! Getting the 4 bearing nuts out from the back!!! OMG! A BIG PAIN IN THE BUTT! I have loosened the control arm and am still not able to turn a wrench on the bottom front bolt. It got ..I had a friend help me was just really tight space to move the breaker
bar. We used a half inch ratchet and 13 mm deep well. He used a long handled about 2 footer he had to tighten new ones back up. He said that would have worked easier for getting them loose too. And one of us pushed in on the end of the axle to make room for the socket on the nut. We also heated the area around the bolt from the wheel side with a map gas torch and
sprayed with penetrating oil while hot and it came loose really easy.

this is a 2015 video and its still helping people thank you, i'm no mechanic but people like you and others that put up these videos are making mechanics out of some of us. i'm good with my hands and i'm sure after watching this video that i could do this job on my Saturn. thank you.

Manuel Ybarra says:

what size is the axel nut and what are the torch specs for it ?

Basement31 says:

Is the hand brake engaged while doing this job or nah?

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue AWD V6 that had new rear wheel bearings installed about 8 years ago. Over the past few years it seems as though it's getting worse and worse MPG, and I've found it doesn't coast as well as it used to. It used to coast pretty good down city streets, but now… all it wants to do is slow down, quickly. I'm guessing it's wheel bearings, but not positive. Any ideas?

joshua Welch says:

Do you remember what size the axel bolt was

Justin Hill says:

Im trying to do this without taking anything extra apart. How did you get to the four bolts in the back without loosening anything?

Rick says:

Extremely helpful resource. Thank you.

Paul Orlando says:

Thank you so much for making this video—it helped me big time. My Saturn is an 06 with 2WD and no ABS, so it went much faster, and I didn't have to swing the brake assembly to the side. I also hit the back four bolts with penetrating oil about a week before, so they came right off.

chinx says:

do you need to put wheel bearing grease on wheel bearing or are they self lubed?

hemi455 says:

19:00 Dude, SPRAY THE DAMN SPLINES. Lube EVERYTHING on assembly!
