You’re actually suppose to start the car with the old valve off, to clean out that pipe, THEN install the new one.

thanx for posting

My mechanic quoted $440 to replace this valve and i nearly hit the roof, considering my 2002 saturn is 11 years old! looked up the code and found this video.. i figured i’d try to clean it first (Pep Boys quoted me $139 just for the part) and i scrubbed the valve w/ a touch of gasoline and an old toothbrush and VOILA! five minutes from start to finish the valve popped open.. and the next time i drove the car, the check engine light went off. YOU SAVED ME tons! thanks!

Buick Mackane says:

A dirty or defective EGR can make your car run badly and you will have a “Service Engine Light. It is simple to remove and clean with Mass Airflow Cleaner.

James O'Connor says:

Dude…SAME THING I JUST PRICED THIS PART…and they told me 300 for the part and 100 for labor. Called the auto part store and the part was 100…and I can do the two screws my own damn self. Thanks Buddy.

MultiXxxDEATHxxx says:

They tried to charge me $365 to do that lol

ctusser says:

Mine would intermittently stall when driving if I pushed the clutch pedal in. Very unsafe and annoying. I just cleaned the carbon out of mine and did not need to replace it.

Herman G says:

what are the symptom of a dirty or bad EGR ??

Casey Woods says:

Thank you! Very helpful! 🙂 Was able to fix it and do it right!

Aya Hauberk says:

My auto guy wanted $400 for this job, I am a chick, and I am SO doing this myself! You totally ROCK!

tati667 says:

Andrew H. says:

Thanks for taking the time to make and post the video. I used it to change out the EGR for my wife’s 98 SL and saved a few hundred $. Total cost was $80.00!

MotivatedSoccer18 says:

Thank you so very much. I just saved me around like 100 dollars. I just need to start buying tools. 🙂

skanga101 says:

THANKS sooooo much. You just saved me $366. My dealer was going to charge me $461 to have the EGR valve replaced. I bought the EGR valve for $95 online and installed it myself in under 5 min. I cannot believe that they wanted to screw me that much money for something a child with a socket wrench and a 10mm socket can do. The Saturn works great! Again, thanks for taking the time to make this video that showed me I could easily do this.

shirle315 says:

Thank you for your tutorial, it saved me $647 I paid $93 for the part and did it myself! I’m so relieved!

TheEnglishGuy2 says:

$568 from Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet in San Diego.

For a $130 part and labor you showed end to end in five minutes?

Mind you, they also tried telling me my oil was dirty and needed changing: oil & filter they’d billed me to change two weeks and 120 miles earlier.

Thank you for showing how to do it and helping people avoid the fraudsters masquerading as professionals.

Raymond Arce says:

Im so happy and thrilled of YouTube. Ive been able to fix my car because of this.
Thank you (thef150) for putting that. You helped save so much money from those shops that just take you to the cleaners. Great Job man.

generatrix999 says:

… too easy. Im doing mine soon as I get the part.

John Deer says:

Thanks a lot dude, i have the same car not the same year. I need to install a boost gauge and don’t know where to find a Vacuum source do you?
