Thank you again for the video. I pulled mine today and found the problem was with the motor connected to the regulator. I was able to get it reinstalled today and am back up and running. I will definitely be calling you for any future needs. Thanks again!. Oh, just a head’s up it is a 7mm bolt for the speaker not 8mm, but a crescent wrench worked in a pinch.

Thank you we will check that! Thank you SO much! God bless you all!!!

You may want to check the wire harness that goes between the drivers side door and the body of the car. There may be a broken or frayed wire in there that needs to be repaired. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Hi! First THANK YOU for doing this video, what a blessing you are! Second, my driver’s side window does not work. It worked then a few weeks ago it stopped working. Then it worked again for a couple weeks. Now my window is stuck down and it’s not working. No noise when I push the button and nothing happens. Do you think it’s a regulator or what could be the issue. ANY help would be wonderful. Thank you so much and may God bless you!!

1aauto says:

You may be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to your rear window. We carry brand new window regulators on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1aauto says:

The window motors could be getting tired on those windows. You could try to spray the weatherstrip around the windows with some silicon spray. If the weatherstrip is really dried out, that would slow the window down too. The silicone will allow the window to glide on them a little easier. Hope this helps you out, 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Dan Reese says:

I have a Saturn Ion 03 , that im having problems with the power windows. only the driver window still works well , but the others go down , but stick going back up . If I do open say the passager window , yeah goes down , but I have to keep clicking the button for a minute till it goes up . Is it the regulartor on all 3 ? or something else I should try first ?

Art2Sec26 says:

My drivers side rear window seems to be broken. I heard a crunch when I tried to drop the window, now the window is limp. Perhaps it just fell off the track, or maybe the regulator is broken. Either way, this video was helpful. Is the rear window fairly similar as the front window for disassembly and reassembly? Thank you for this informative video!

1aauto says:

We currently do not carry these window regulators. The power window motor may or may not be serviceable on the regulator, you might have to replace the whole assembly as shown in this video. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

chizzm87 says:

So to replace the motor I follow the same process correct?

1aauto says:

Yes it’s the same window regulator as shown in the video.

pTeronaut says:

It’s the same regulator as shown in the video, from an ’06 Ion. I’m getting more certain that it is some form of a loose connection within the motor as, with the stereo outputting silence, a whine can be heard when operating the switch, and the power window began to work again after the car rode over a small bump in the road earlier today, which must have jiggled something back into contact.

1aauto says:

You might need to free it up from inside of the door. if it’s a window regulator with cables, you might need to free them up so that you can lower the window. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

pTeronaut says:

How can I lower the regulator if it has ceased to operate in the full up position?

I am certain that the motor has failed, likely stopped with the bushings in the gap between the contacts (had a GM with a starter that did that. LOL) as the passenger front and both rear windows work, and I can hear what I assume to be a relay when I press both ‘down’ and ‘auto’ on the driver’s window switch.

KathyBGood says:

this was so helpful – I can’t believe you take the time to make these videos, God bless you! I can’t open my driver’s door ( Saturn 2005 Ion sedan ) as the window is up but blocking the door latch. read this is a common issue with my car, can’t put window down on either front door without it falling off track. I read the door latch gets stuck because of a small protruding piece that need to be permanently glued in place so it does not disable the door latch again. hope this helps someone!

Unfortunately we are currently working on other videos but we can possibly do a video for this later on down the road.

Jonathan JoeJon McOasis says:

hey i have a 1999 saturn sc1 coupe i have tried surfing the interent on how to replace the window motor but cant find any videos on how to DIY can you please help me? i tried checking if the power goes thru it but no power goes thru it

fitznig says:

Thanks, I will see what I can find out!

1aauto says:

You may want to test the power going to the window motor to see if it has power to it. If it does than the window motor may be bad.

fitznig says:

On my passenger front window, when I push the power window toggle switch I can hear a high pitch whine sound that is very low in volume!
Does this suggest a motor issue or regulator issue?
Thanks!

1aauto says:

You may want to check the window motor to see if it’s getting weak and not holding the window up.

1aauto says:

Your first step would be to take off the door panels to see if there is any issues with the window regulator. If they appears to be no damage, you should then test the connection going to the regulator motor itself to see if you are getting power.

The New Trail Blaze says:

I have a car just like the one in this video. Both power windows on the driver side work (front and back) but both power windows do not work on the passenger side (front and back). Given these symptoms what is most likely the problem? And how would I troubleshoot something like that just to make sure? Thanks

1aauto says:

Thank you for checking us out. Have a great day!

Lu Ru says:

I have never ever tried to fix anything on a car before and with this video I was able to change out the motor and IT WORKS!! Time to hit the drive through!

1aauto says:

No problem at all. Thank you for watching our auto repair videos on YouTube.

Leland Beaudrot says:

Thanks for this spot-on video! This saved me a costly trip to the shop, a day without my car, and a bunch of buck$. I didn’t even have to take the regulator out, just tightened the left-hand bold and done.

1aauto says:

It’s not to bad of a job. It can be repaired by the average person with basic hand tools.

Chris Janquart says:

Wow, what a pain in the butt! I sure hope I never have to replace a window. If I do, at least I’ll now what a nightmare the tech has to endure to earn his pay!

1aauto says:

Thank you for checking out our auto repair videos. We do carry the replacement parts, but we do not currently offer any tools as part of our product line.

Vw Whitman says:

Thank you for this video. In the tool description, you list an 8 mm socket and it calls for a 7 mm (which is what you use later in the video) and this part is also something your website doesn’t offer. I would have purchased it at the time, but it wasn’t available.
