How To Fix Car Sunroof Leak.Saturn/Dodge/Ford/BMW/Jeep/Honda/Toyota/Tesla/Mercedes/Bugatti.

I found the leak from Sunroof on my Saturn Vue, the cause was disconnected drain tube.
As a quick fix I used superglue, drying carpet took much longer.
Will work on the following brands also :
Saturn/Dodge/Ford/BMW/Jeep/Honda/Toyota

J Bruner says:

Thanks for this video! Same thing happened to my Vue. I was about to take it to a shop and pay for someone to find out why I kept getting water in my floorboards. After watching this video, it took me about 15 minutes to fix it myself. Thanks!!!

The Wind Hover says:

sure hope that's Not real Peligrino. Sure wouldn't want to waste such fine water on a 'er "motor" like that.

Anti Angelofmusic says:

Sunroofs don't leak! The drains just get clogged!

Matthew Lewellen says:

Water pouring out corner there passenger side, flooded. So, Just saw your video, and the end of the tube disconnected, great detail of video, unscrewed my 2004 Saturn Vue Redline, areas, hoping to find the tube disconnected so I know that's the leak issue, and smiled big when i saw it, reconnected, problem fixed ! Thanks a lot for your help

Thank you so much for this video. Followed instructions on my 2002 Vue and was able to fix the disconnected tubes. Again, never could have done it without your video. Thank you kindly.

Tim LeVangia says:

Thank you. Exactly the issue with my 2004 VUE.
I was thinking the drains were clogged, and not looking forward to dealing with that. But it was the passenger side fitting to the tube that had let go, as was the case in your video. I noticed that there wasn't much slack in that tube as well.

Jason Robertson says:

Many thanks for the video!! I have the same problem and found that both drain tubes had become disconnected. It seems that the tubing has shortened over time (shrunk), probably due to the heat in that particular part of the car? However, I'm pretty sure that even if I superglue the joints, the stress will pull the rest of the gasket off where it attaches to the drain itself. If anyone has suggestions for that, please post. I have a feeling I'll be taking it apart again one day.

Excellent video! My sons 06 Vue has been leaking for months and now starting to rot and mold. Body shop didnt know what to do – but after watching this 8 minute video – we fixed it ourselves in less than an hour! You are my hero! THANKS!

Jeremy Curd says:

Thank you so much sir. I was so stressed out trying to pinpoint the source of my leak. We were fixing to rent a car and take our Vue to a collision repair place that would have no doubt costed hundreds. You are great!

Chris Pomeroy says:

Thank you SO much for this!Fixed mine after watching.

Michael Knight says:

You didn't speak at all in the video. The video was so great you didn't need to say a single word. I have had major car issues the past 3 months including being towed 3 times and 2 new accelerator pedal installs. This time they found water under my carpet and that a wiring harness coming from the computer had been wet and has corrosion on it. I found your video when I though it was coming from the roof maybe. Both drains on my sunroof were clogged by leaves. Thank you so much for ending this expensive nightmare ride I have been on the past few months. Hat's off to you!!!!

Terrific video! Thank you for doing this!

Couple of comments:
On my black '05 Vue, I didn't find it necessary to remove the outside above-door trim strip – only the visor & clip and inside cover for pillar.
Also the outside trim strip is fragile – the black paint on it chips and scratches easily. The plastic mounting tabs break easily.

The white plastic drain tube as shown had shrunk about an inch in length so it was necessary to cut it and glue in a piece of 3/8" ID clear neoprene tubing as an extension.

Dealing with the water under the carpets is the hardest thing. I don't have a wet-dry vac so will blot the water up with towels until the carpet dries.

Mick Bradford says:

Good luck with the super glue! I have found from past experience that super glue does not hold up well overtime when used on plastic. Recently, I purchased a super glue kit for use on plastec that contained two small containers of solution. One is a primer and the other is the actual glue. After many attempts, it did not work well either. The directions on most super glue packages says it with work on plastic, and for the short term, it may, but over many years I haven't had much luck with it.

There is another YouTube video where the car owner had the same problem as you did and he used zip ties around the tubing to secure it. I wish you well as I know this is a frustrating problem to have!!

Andrew Matheson says:

Thank you for this video! We had the exact same issue on our 2008 Equinox and were able to fix it in just a few minutes.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have plastic everywhere in my vue. I'm going to pick up some super glue right now!

Thanks for posting this ! My wife has a Red Line Vue and has recently noticed a wet floor on the passenger side. We've also spotted wetness in the past, around the center roof console. I'm going to check these connections in the sunroof.
Also, VERY nicely done how you were able to communicate the problem AND the repair, without saying anything ! !
Thank you so much.

I had a similar problem with my 2007 Nissan Murano. I was just about going to the dealership to spend money when i chance on this video. The problem is solved now. Thanks for sharing this video.

Charles Klingensmith says:

I checked mine and my hoses were still connected and I tried poring water on the car after I unhooked everything and looked, but didn't see no water leakage, so I have know idea where the water was leaking from, so I just put everything back together and put new tape around the edges of the sunroof, cause I'm not taking any chances of water getting in, if its not the hoses…

Paul Fithian says:

Thanks for posting this, we had the same problem on our 2005 Vue.  Easy fix!
