Good video helped a lot, but if you have the hybrid version you need to have a special tool. The hybrid version has 2 tensioners, you will need to buy or make a tool to compress a spring tensioner, I used a gear pulley to compress. Good luck.

Make a video on doing the water pump, I have an 08 vue redline

Kaashif fuller says:

I have a question about this car were is the pulley tensioner to remove belt to get to alternator?

Mario J Vargas says:

Tanks, I did mine last night and works well

Joel Garcia says:

How did you take off the belt of the 08 saturn vue

james midthun says:

Watched video and can't get alternator out

Danielle Howell says:

I have a 08 Saturn and my hazard lights and interior lights won’t go off in the car. It’s to the point that it’s draining my battery everyday. I was wondering could it be my alternator or something else.

Jeff Stager says:

This is an excellent video! I followed it and was able to get my alternator replaced.

A couple of additions…

The small, hard-to-get-to bolt on the front of the lower air filter box (see right side of attached photograph, 1/3 down from top) is a black plastic covered bolt. I don't think you need to remove it. The box slides right off after the other two bolts are removed from the back of the box.

Also, in the photo (go to this link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3FvBbuABw7vbzd1ZmpNa3pRSmc ) , I positioned the alternator so that you can see the position it needs to be in to get through the space between the engine and the frame after carefully lifting engine with your jack to allow for more space.

BTW, the serpentine belt is a pain in the a$$. That took me the most time of all.

And warning – if you use a hydraulic jack to lift the engine, be aware that these will often lose their lift over time. If you are going to need the engine supported for a long period of time, use jack stands and 2X4's to keep the engine supported at the proper height.

James Gonzalez says:

Thanks for the video. Doing mine today. Do you have any info on how to take off serpentine belt and put back on?
