Saab 9-3SS Aero – Warning for potential buyers!

Saab 9-3SS Aero – Warning for potential buyers!

What a waste of money! Great dealer service, awful car. I love(d) this car. It looks great, drives well and it’s seriously quick… when it works.

Gear knob is impossible to come of its glued like fuck as tried to change
my gaitor and wanted to take the knob off not possible. Saab’s are so worth
the money Vauxhall Vectra’s are Shite!!!

Leonard Allan says:

I have a Saab 2004, 93 2.0T. it was running and now it won’t start. tried
everything. any knowledge of the electronics would help.

Daniel Johnston says:

that must be a Friday afternoon car lol

Daniel Johnston says:

absolutely love my 9-3 aero its done 100k and i still kick its head in on a
daily basis! but i change the oil every other month (drive hard service
hard) i have never had any problems with the brakes or seatbelts or seats
!! I suspect the previous owner was a bit of a hippo it looks like your car
has had a hard life sorry to hear …but i highly recommend this underrated
sports saloon to anyone want comfortable cheap thrills and a good reliable
steed

Michael Monk says:

Such a shame.. sounds like you’ve got a bad one. I have a 2003 9-3ss Aero
and it’s turned out to be the best car I have ever owned.. and I’ve owned a
lot. Drives brilliantly… only problem I ever had was the front two window
lifters had to be replaced.. apart from that.. wow.. what can I
say..amazing car. Over 80k now.

mjuellarsen says:

People say the 03-05 9-3s had rough reliability and quality problems…no
personal experience with it, but for sure, they don’t build ’em like they
did in the 80s.

Paul Thompson says:

My 05 Aero is at 102,000 miles, runs absolutely fine. Everything works
absolutely perfectly, cannot fault the car. It’s the 4th 9-3 I’ve had, and
I’ve never had any problems even approaching anything like yours. It sounds
like you’ve just had bad luck.

adis163163 says:

you have some papers in the fan that happend to my saab and a removed the
paper and the sound was gone for ever

Larry33Legend says:

My ’04 runs fine coming up on 100k pretty soon. I don’t why yours is having
issues.

Dhurgham Alhosiny says:

My 04 at 125k miles still runs amazing. You just had bad luck.

funkmaster7597 says:

learn to take care of your car

giesen1979 says:

Ahaha – my 99 9-5 sux too! Ive had it for almost 3 years and its broken
more than we drive it. GM, do you even Saab?

visionit2007 says:

@krulkntrdction It’s a bluetooth car kit… The odd noises turned out to be
a plastic cog which had broken inside the air con unit, called a stepping
motor. Very common fault apparently, but it’s been fixed a while… this
video is 3yrs old. No major problems since. The flywheel packed up after
30,000 miles but that’s wear and tear.

Robert Gates says:

I’m still going to buy one. I’m sure the mid range poke will make up for
its foibles 🙂 I may keep my e46 for a few months after though, just in
case I change my mind lol

SAAB Young liu says:

this is saab style and i must say “thank u” GM.. i don NOT wanna say some
bad words but this is the FACT! the TRUE! it was GM mess up SAAB and made
saab going to …how can i say..suck? NO! SAAB always spend money and
budget u can NOT see! like the turbo skill, safety, and desgin! i have 2
saabs which is 2003 9-3 vector and 2006 9-5 aero! both are under 50k miles
and they running great! i also do the basic care to my cars like change
sparks and DI whatever just follow the Haynes handbook!

visionit2007 says:

@Eagleye2026 Thank you for that… kindly keep it to yourself next time.

Jay Ponder says:

You are blessed with a lemon. Congats!

Henners says:

You probably just got unlucky, and got a lemon. Its not fair to draw a
conclusion of a manufacturer/car just because of one experience.

Ryan Barry says:

Dude it’s a european car so they’re more high maintenance. But from the
look at it you are at fault because for that many miles/kms whatever youre
using that’s not the car that’s you. Same thing with a jetta, I got one for
free because someone didn’t want to take the time to volt meter it and find
the short and change the relay.. fixed. 5k my pocket. Don’t be an idiot and
do a search. This costs 10 dollars to fix and it’s a stripped gear in your
motor.

ansettnz100 says:

I think Ive heard about some moisture build up. No need to worry, the car
is so beautiful I dont care about the money!

Eli Ramirez says:

U just had bad luck becuase my saab 93 is perfect and I had it for 4 years
now is still works like new

Gustav Davidsson says:

best saab= SAAB 99

Michael Mac says:

European cars are crap, all of them…

Peonar says:

@visionit2007 this is a good point!

visionit2007 says:

@laidback8282 Someone who has paid £13,500 cash for a car + warranty in the
hope that it lasts longer than a few months before bits start dropping off.
I’ve deleted the two previous comments! Thanks for correcting your grammar
and spelling though… it’s frustrating getting comments from illiterate
folk who are too stupid to form a coherent sentence.

visionit2007 says:

Run that by me again… take it for a test drive before buying it? That’s
incredible… genius in fact! Ya know, I think that’ll catch on.

Sweet-Kiss says:

dude I sold my 2003 saab 9-3 in better condition than i got it new starter,
new ac, new brakes,… i just got my second saab a convertible V6 in
awesome condition… car owners are responsible for maintanace service’s on
the car.. some people just dont know how to take care of a car so yes maybe
an old kia is better off in your hands… Dont expect a car to run good
forever without you caring and getting service maintanance done to it

MaccccGyver says:

I have a 55plate 9-3 1.9tid wich has done 161,000miles. Car has been all
over europe and still looks as good as it did the day it came out of the
factory.
