put a low profile screw in the hole and paint it the color of the car
Yes i know how to fix that its not your door handles so much as it is the window buttons. you need to use double sided sticky tape to keep the door panels off the metal of the door. so they vibration wont go thru the panels.
I have 2 9-3s thanks for the vid. I was wondering what the sensors were for on the control arms.
anyhow my headlight studs that actually hold the bulb assembly are broke off. wow how did that happen>?
This video is NOT how to replace bulbs, but how to remove the headlights, like the title says.
This video says it will show me how to “easily” remove and replace headlight bulbs.
“Easily” to me doesn’t mean removing the entire front clip/bumper and wheel wells. Just take the battery cover off, pop the windshield fluid filler tube off, and keep the front end of your car assembled. Took me 10 minutes to do both headlights…
Thanks for video I have to replace my passenger side xenon bulb on 2003 Arc9-3 Great job on video it will help me

nice vid bro. exactly what i was looking for. appreciate sharing this.
Do you have any video for the annoying vibrating of the inner door handles? my drivers side door handle seems to vibrate badly when listening to music :/ i push it upwards and it stops… Thanks
Thanks very much! The self levelers are internal, unlike my 2001 9-5’s leveling motors. The 2003+ 9-3 uses sensors on the control arms for cars with xenon lights, which are constantly adjusting the beam. And for non-US cars with halogen headlights there is a leveling switch fitted to the headlight switched marked 0-1-2-3. Zero being level/unloaded. 3 being a heavily loaded car. The leveling stepper motors are also different between auto/xenon and switch/halogen based leveling.
Very helpful! Is the self-leveling mechanism internal to the headlamp assembly? I’ve thought about converting mine over to HID by replacing the halogen housings with Xenons. But, I understand that there are sensors for vehicle speed, etc. that feed into a self-leveling mechanism on the housing somehow …
Thanks very much! Very nice of your to say!
Thank you Buddy we need more people like you who work in Saabs the video was so professional & well Organize ..
Thanks very much! As for your request, that’s a good one, and I’ve done it to both of my 9-5’s, swapping the V6 suspension to the Aero suspension, but I have no plans on doing any suspension work on the 9-3. It’s my sister’s car and she prefers the comfortable, higher stance of her Arc suspension to the lower harsher riding Aero setup. =(
This video is great. Very informative and a real time saver. As for your invite to subjects for further videos… I would love to see a front and rear suspension change (strut/spring). (I’ll be doing this on my 2005 9-3 Aero in the near future.)
For some [STUPID] reason, USDOT regulates xenon headlights either have the projector beam open its shutter fully from dipped beam to high beam with halogen bulb off, OR have the halogen high beam bulb on but the projector shutter stays in dipped beam focus, and doesn’t open to high beam. The only way you can alter this is with a Tech 2, or some (possibly damaging) wire harness altering, which I don’t recommend. The H7 bulb serves as a Flash to Pass signal when the lights are off.
Why do my secondary high beams not work with my xenon’s or why are they there the first place h7 bulb. 2003 saab vector
Yep, it’s the same thing.
im sure someone has asked but…will this work on a 07 9-3 aero?
Thanks…How about something to do with engine work like servicing, replacing parts or probably taking back bumper off etc..I need to get curtain and seat airbags replaced on mine, are they straight forward to do? Whats your opinion please?
How could someone dislike this? Oh I see, stealership.
Thanks very much! Of course! But there’s really nothing on my to-do list with any of my Saabs. I’ll try to get your suggestions uploaded if you provide some.
Hi, Your video was really helpful thanks. Could you please do more videos on this model car. Thanks
belle job, bien fait et bien expliquer merci (thanks)
Great video!! Just awesome 😉 Great job
great video thanks very much
On top of that, let’s not forget about the sludge issues in the 4 and 6 cylinder engines! What do you say about that QDuke04?! Keep your Toyota, I’d rather have my Saabs thanks.
@Nathandm78 The last 4 years were bad for Toyotas including recalls for early 2000 cars.
And Toyota had the most safety and vital parts failure related recalls of any car in the US for 2012.
@QDuke04 Toyota = Boring
amazing job! amazing diy amazing just plain awesome man
This video is just what I was looking for. One of my bulbs just started to dim and bit a turned to a lighted shade (white-ish) than the regular blue tint.
Thank you very much buddy. This video helped me alot.
Nathandm78,
On my Saab 9.3, the previous owner purchased the car from a dealer and there is annoying dealership plate on the front, where your car says “Saab 9.3” When I took off the plate there are screw holes from a metal device holding up the plate, and I was wondering, do you know the best way to resolve something like this? It looks really worse with the plate off, do you think I just need to replace the front bumper?
Thx
The metal clip that holds the bulb into the headlamp assembly fell out and I lost it. Any ideas? Why would that be able to come off? Poor engineering.
Really informative by the way! I forgot that in the last post :)
Thank you! My girlfriend just recived her Saab from the workshop. She has just had so much unluck with this car. When she got the car again they told her that the Xenon was “red” (Probably some kind of warning in the can-bus system or similar) Do you know what gives first usually? The bult itself, the igniter or the ballast? Today (one day after that she recived the car) the right headlight died on her way to work.
As Ive owned a late model SAAB in the past, I found that by far, the most effective way of repairing it was by replacing it with a Toyota.
Thanks for posting the video. I wish I would have watched it before I tried to replace my bulb.
How to replace the fog light bulb is now uploaded! =D
No, thank YOU!
Thanks very much!
Great Job!!
OMG ! Thank you for taking the time to do this! I recently bought a 2004 9-3 Aero and want to change the fog light bulbs; this really helped for the headlight aspect; however, I am not sure how much of the front bumper I have to remove, as it appears there is a recessed white screw next to the fog light and I don’t its relevance….can you help me with this….please…..
It’s amazing the incompetence of some “mechanics.” One of the many reasons I started making these little Saab videos. To hopefully help empower others, give them confidence and to help everyone save a few dollars on repairs. As you can see I was able to easily remove all these parts, which is NOT necessary if you only need to replace a bulb, in a few minutes, with common tools, and I did it with one hand. I have a list of suggested videos I need to complete, stay tuned!
Great video. I’ve taken my car to 12 shops and not one knows how to install my headlights correctly on this saab model. I will send them this video link and laugh at them.
Well thank you very much! Glad you got the bulb replaced!! It’s nice to know I was able to help someone out!
