Ma Va says:

Can I face engine problems in the long run if I do not swap to the new tensioners? My Boxster MY97 makes a short rattle (due to off loaded chain tensioners) every time I crank the engine when cold.

Mark Duenas says:

As a follow up to Z00mie Zoom's question I'm wondering if the oil has to be drained to replace the tensioners?

Z00mie Zoom says:

Could one replace the tensioners (only) without locking the cams/crank  as the chains can't "fall off" or move on the sprockets?

Mike O'Brien says:

Its not a bad idea to do two full rotations of the crank. Install the crank locking pin again and check the alignment of the cam slots. Just another double check before installing the cam caps.

Richie Ciliberti says:

I have a 1999 Porsche Boxster as well and I had the ims change too the vertexauto ims and it works great because I got a used engine with 41000 miles on it and over 5months heard rattling in the transmission thought but it was the ims bearing wearing down

paul B says:

Do you have a part number for the crush washer and o ring on the tensioners

Dennis Bhogal says:

hi, where did you get the plastic plugs (bore plugs) for the cam shaft holes?

Edward Sabo says:

Great video….. What signs did you see or hear that they needed to be replaced?
