Porsche Cayenne: Bose Amplifier Replacement

Porsche Cayenne: Bose Amplifier Replacement

Over the winter the radio stopped working in my Cayenne. Ugh! After doing some research, I think the Bose amplifier has failed and in this video I will be swapping it out with a rebuilt unit. Hopefully this rebuilt amplifier will fix my problems.

I purchased my rebuilt amplifier from here: https://paulisoncorpserv.com/

thanks for the great DIY videos, Dan. Just replaced the rear brakes in my 2005 CTT with your help. Only issue was disconnecting the wear sensor wire at the main connection point. Yesterday, I replaced the right fog light as it was smashed. Unfortunately, there was no DIY video on that one and I had to figure it out myself. It was very tricky and a unique setup for the 05 CTT. I should have made a video! Stereo: I still don't know why it is now working, but I had the same problem as you with the stereo over the past year. Intermittently, I would get the error message and no sound. The reset button combination worked a few times. Pulling the fuse out and back worked a few times. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery worked a few times. Someone suggested a new head unit and since I was looking for that upgrade anyways, I tried that at Christmas. Everything went well according to the DIY videos and Rennlist blog and $1000 later, I had a modern stereo (Sony AX3000) with all the bells and whistles (even installed a backup camera). Everything worked for about a week, then the system went silent again! Head unit powered up no problem, Android Auto worked for the NAV still, just no sound! Heard a slight clicking in the speakers and one youtuber suggested repairing or replacing the amp. First I tried re/re the relay as suggested but no luck. I found a used amp on ebay ($200) and went through the same process you just described and still no sound. I was about to take the CTT to the audio pros when I discovered 4 of my windows were broken by vandals/thieves in my parking lot. They couldn't get in because of the unbreakable security glass in the Porsche, but I had to get them replaced through insurance. I had to wait over a month for the glass from Germany and most of that time the car sat at the autoglass place. While sitting, the battery drained (another common issue). When I got the car back, miraculously the stereo was working again!! I even switched out the replacement amp with the original amp and that worked too. Everything has been working fine now for a month. One suggestion from an electrical engineer friend was the moisture in the car causing a short, due to water ingress during the winter (clogged drain plugs from windshield/sunroof – yet another DIY issue!). Now with the drier spring/summer weather, and putting a bag of moisture absorber in the car, I'm hoping the stereo will continue to work. Lucky I have the time now for all this, since losing my job due to Covid! Cheers!

I bought a Cayenne turbo S because of your reviews and diy repairs and then you start not to post a new content about the cayenne

You've got one of the most problematic Cayenne in the world. What's left unchanged in it?
