Porsche 993/964 Climate Control Unit Fan Motor Repair! (DIY)

Porsche 993/964 Climate Control Unit Fan Motor Repair! (DIY)

Hi Everyone, While I was working on the Convertible top latch motor repair I noticed some “extra” noise from the Climate Control Unit (CCU HVAC) in our 1995 Porsche 993 Cabriolet. It is actually a super easy repair and in this video I walk you through all the steps. When you get done your little fan will be quiet as a church mouse 😊

Tools and parts:

• Four small Philips screwdrivers
• Normal size Phillips screwdriver
• 7mm nut driver
• Wheel bearing grease

We hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, please give it a “Thumbs up” and Subscribe to Heidi and Franny’s Garage for more videos to come. Also, click the little “Bell” by the Subscribe button to get notified when we release new videos – usually Saturday mornings.

With winter coming you gotta have some heat! Another fine job! I like that you have a nice clean, well lit bench to work on. I hate a messy, dimly lit workbench. When owned by 1977 Targa I would take the Targa top off on sunny cold days here in California, roll the windows up, and crank up the heat with the air coming out in the foot well area. It kept me warm enough even though it was cold out. Well, California cold is not really that cold, but cold enough just the same. Anyway, that made for a real nice ride when the sun was out on a dry day!

This is another super helpful 993 focused video. My 993 has had this issue intermittently since I bought it in 2012. Since I rarely need to run the climate control, it has not been a top item to fix. Your video is excellent! This is the next fix I plan to do this winter. Please keep producing 993 content!!!!

Great channel! I got here after MarceloTonella ("the king" of VW air-cooled maintenace in Brazil) recommendation. Definitely I will explore your videos. Best regards, Alex

Sergio Moura says:

Tim Gossett says:

Very cool, I had no idea the climate units were made by Hella.
