If you want to buy an “I AM THE WARRANTY” shirt OR if this saved you a good deal of time and/or money and want to buy me a coffee or a beer, you can do those things right here: https://ko-fi.com/helpmediy

Today I installed the new stalk and wired it up to control the On-Board Computer functions of my Boxster 986. In the next video I will show you how to activate it with the Durametric tool for Porsche.

I saw the heat shrink problem coming but I couldn't get your attention. Bravo for showing warts and all. Nice work.

Excellent tutorial!
A few years ago, I realized this on a European 986 (Belgium). I did not want to dismantle the steering wheel (for safety), nor buy the expensive Porsche parts. In general the Belgian version has two switches for seat heating (even when the seats are not heated, which was the case):

Then simply place a wire from n ° 1 of the right switch to the 20 of white plug II (instrument cluster), a second wire of n ° 2 of the right switch to 21 of white plug II, a third wire of n ° 1 from the left switch to 22 of the white plug II and a last wire from n ° 2 of the left switch to the 25 of the white plug II. The n ° 4 of the two switches (common) are already connected to the ground. Here is the diagram:

If the outside temperature is displayed, this means (although you do not have the computer option) the "On Board Computer" is activated. So no need to use a PIWIS or a PST-2.
It cost me less than ten dollars and twenty minutes of easy work to get all the functions of the computer.

Thanks for making these awesome videos! I'm looking into adding an OBC stalk or possibly adding paddle shifters and changing the tip buttons to control the OBC
