Steinkrunk says:

Any reason you took the caliper apart? I just did wheel bearings on my 83
and just removed the two 19mm bolts then pryed the caliper and pads off as
one unit. They stood together and putting them back on was as easy as just
slipping the caliper back on the disc. The pads gripped the disc and made
it easy to line up the caliper bolts also.

Steinkrunk says:

I wish I watched this video before I started I’m currently icing my thumb
since my brass drift slipped when I was trying to hammer out the races and
my hammer found its new target right on my thumb lol. Next time ill use
some vise grips so they’ll take the brunt of the attack

Brian Greul says:

Yes. I wanted to inspect the caliper seals. This is much easier to do with
the pads out. The car was an unknown to me and I didn’t have faith in the
previous owner’s work. I re-inspected everything I touched to make sure
that I fixed any truly screwed up stuff that I came across. Brakes are
rather important on the 944. 🙂
