I recieved my shifter kit last week and have the same play issue as you, what you're saying is all that's needed to do to reduce the play is take it apart and grease up the insides? No shims or whatever necessary? Great video by the way!

I’m interested in the original shift mechanism, not what I expected. I hate removing trim from modern vehicles always feels like it’s about to break off and never goes back on the same. Regards Chris
