Just done this myself, thank you for the guide! Really helped. Just wondered if you ran in to any interference issues? I get a whine/interference over the speakers that goes when the headlights are turned on!
This unit is a marvel. I can t believe the difference this makes in looks and specially in sound. I did not think this unit will transform in such a good way the sound in my boxster. Great unit, i highly recommend it to everyone who owns an 986/996
This is a brilliant, clear run through of this. I've been looking for a while now and lots of confusing information around, so this has been great. Thanks so much.
What would you rate the stereo and speaker upgrade compared to stock? Would you ever change the amplifier and door speakers?
Hi. Thank you for video. Installed it in my Boxster, works fine. But when I turn ignition on, the radio unit is off. I need to press button to turn it on. And then everything is reset, it plays song from usb key from beginning. Is it same with yours?
Im fitting this unit at the moment for a customer and it works with the M490 OEM Nokia amp but A – its not very loud… even on full blast it feels like it should go more. and B – there is no balance adjustment. The wiring to the M490 amp takes the + line out feed from left and right but then a single – feed and on the adapter I've got its just the left and right – feeds joined. Like I say it plays music but doesnt give the left and right separation.
What is the “box o tricks”. I’ve got no sound on my unit but power to the head unit. Probably need to power the amp but what the heck is the box o tricks
hows the headunit now? after a few years?
Does your radio turn on when the car turns on, or do you have to click the button on each time? Only issue I have otherwise works, sounds, and looks great!
