Hey, try this: I stumbled on it. Take a hammer head an back the hole or gap
and weld around the edges, spiraling inward with the pool. The pool will
not stick to the hardened hammer. Try it on scrap. I did this to fill holes
drilled in my Ghia body sheet metal.
who would have thought this car was going to need this much fab work but
its in your very capable hands and this german/canadian reengineered
vehicle will be aces when completed
Ron, leave the drain tube a little proud of the panel surface, so the water
will drip off the lip of the tube and not run along the panel and into the
seseams etc….
You are a perfectionist, so that’s understandable, even if you are still
human (grin)… Not that it will ever have a chance to cause rust in your
ownership but by maiking that tube flush, won’t it migrate water onto that
lower panel? Rather than perfectly flush maybe a slightly raised area would
avoid that. But ehhh it’s so minor and it will be years before it’s even a
problem, if ever. Forget I said anything LOL
Hey, it’s not always smooth sailing when working with stuff that thin, it
was bound to happen. it’s still going to be awesomely repaired when you are
finished! No aluminum foil to be found! LOL Keep up the good work
Getting there. I know what you mean with neighbors. I’m lucky, one is a car
guy, and the other, drove a Harley. The neighbor that likes cars has a 914,
with a small block chevy in it he hasn’t worked on for years.
Catching up still here
Thanks Jim, I expect I could find one, but I got sticker shock when I found
out that some porsche flat sixes cost better than $10K to rebuild.
Thanks, getting there
Thanks Jeff, I’ll give that a try, usually I back holes with copper pipe I
hammered flat
Making progress!
very nicely done.
Thanks!
Thanks Greg

You are going to be fabbing 15% of that car from scratch! Good job, Ron…
