So I replaced the handle on Toyota Matrix, ,' 04. Rear door. Closed the door. Door will not open from inside or outside. I think I'll have to go back and make sure the lock mechanism is put in properly. My question, how do I get the door open? The electronic lock switch works. The door handle works.
This was clear, simple and accurate. I replaced my handle in less than an hour. The first time I tested it, after replacing the handle, it wasn't working because I hadn't seated the red "fork" piece onto the prong. However, I was able to fix this quickly because the video so clearly showed that piece. I wouldn't have been able to see that without the video. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the video. I'm having trouble getting the handle to move the fork up and down. I see how it goes up and down with the help of the spring, but the handle doesn't push it. How is it suppose to work? Is maybe the inside piece broken?
Oh man,it's that easy!?! Just as long as I pay attention to what I'm doing I can save the $275.00 I was gonna pay the Toyota dealership and save the time going back and forth and waiting for them to get around to it.You are the Man!
This is a really great video. The part about slipping the tab between the fork is valuable. Replaced the LR handle on my mother's 2003 Vibe GT with no issues. FYI, on her Vibe, the Torx screw holding down the handle actually has some sort of hold mechanism on it so there is no risk of it falling out of place. Very thoughtful on the part of the engineers.
Thanks man! Great help. I'd just suggest to triple check the mechanism before you put the plastic up again. I found that putting a piece of masking tape over the screw was helpful, so that I wouldn't fall down into the well of the door

Thanks for the video. This was exactly what I needed to fix the handle on my 2003 Pontiac Vibe.
Thank you for making this video!
