A couple of things 1) It's important to secure that battery because you reduce the chance of the battery shorting out during an accident and causing a fire. 2) Always start with the negative terminal that way if the wrench touches ground there is no hazard. Now with the negative disconnected there is no way the positive will short the battery.
You really don't have to swing the brace out. I have one and the battery will come out and go back in in the opening on the brace. I just had to do this weekend. Also, a recommendation if you can catch the battery before it dies plug in a battery tender (the one that has the 9 volt battery) into the cigarette lighter because you can end up with the radio not working and the sounds for turn signals and flasher will also stop.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. 2 hours and found out that the screws in the bottom of the fender panel were missing so a little more work to do. Thank you for the help. Made it easy.
Thank you so much Im buying one I had 25 years ago. New old toy. Now Im going to need all the tips and Extensions LOL I will ever need
Thanks a bunch, just needed to know how to deal with the brace. Great video, you nailed it
Awesome. Thanks. Im on battery 4 or 5 and have always struggled with alignment of the panel. Not this time. Have you had to replace the charcoal canister in fuel system ? I cant put gas in my 06 solstice at the pump, i use cans at home and have to be very slow or it overflows. I ve heard the axle and fuel tank have to dropped and its very expensive and some have cut their way in from the trunk. Any info is much appreciated.
An access panel would have been much preferred to this involved procedure.
Thank you Jesus

I did it myself!!! Thank you so much for this video- I didn't have the confidence to do it until I saw your this one!
I put a battery tender on over the winter, shouldn’t that help?
can you give a list of the exact tools needed
Nice explanation on a P.I.A. Job. Basic battery maintenance says to remove the Negative Cable FIRST(removes the possibility of shorting your tool to ground) I have found the best way to prevent having to do this job (other than selling the car) is to use a when parked for extended periods. My wife's '08 Solstice is on it's second battery after 15 years. I have a four battery one, that I use for her Sol, my Vette, Harley, and Lawn Tractor when they all go into winter storage. The Sol and Vette both suffer parasitic drain when sitting because of the electronics in the vehicles. The cost of a battery tender outweighs the cost and troubles of replacing batteries.
Try changing the water pump on a 2006 BMW M328 or replacing the crankcase vent system on the same car and then tell me how great their engineering is. That BMW was the LAST foreign car I bought. Sold my Maserati, too. Now I have American brand name cars only. No regrets.
I’ve seen alot of videos showing how to replace the battery through the fender but never shows how to align the fender. I wouldn’t recommend there but rather remove the wheel and pass through the inner fender wheel liner.
