I just got done watching your video. I'm building a 70 pontiac 400. Its my first pontiac so I'm a little lost on some things but your video is helping. I have a couple questions. How many guides are suppose to be used and where to the Water pump output sleeves go? In the block itself or the water pump? The video didn't show that. Thanks.
Hey buddy can I tell you that seal's don't leak around the race they leak where the rubber meets the spinning crank you boob . Your obviously an anal geek who over kill's everything because you think your way is the ONLY best way in spite of what proper procedure tells you ..I'm watching you two and I can't believe my fucking eye's you two are a piece of work OMG ..do you realize you haven't put your finger on a lousy part new or used that you haven't come up with some lame ass reason you had to manipulate for some unknown reason only you are aware of ? Wow I finally met two guys who have reinvented the wheel … Wow OMG I can't wait to tell the crew down at Bob Ingals race motor shop about you two ..
Great videos, you guys are surely helping many hot rodders out there, the old timing cover you have there is a 1971 version, you can also see the tri power thermostat bump inside there where the water pump sits, rare on most covers, if you are still looking for a 4x head I may have a few extra.
Pontiacs are like the new LS, even if you use the locators you should loosely install the timing cover and rotate the engine a few times to center the cover on the crank snout. Helps eliminate leaks.
It be nice if the made a billet 455 pontiac block but of course the crow would of had it by now
Ultra gray or black permatex will seal with out gasket old timing cover looked ok in video
They are called "Dowel Pins" not guide sleeves.

I hate it when people call an engine a motor
