Some GPs (2-door) have fold-down rear seats, others (4-door) do not and you must remove the seat as shown in the video.

qwertyman113 says:

i didnt remove my seats i just flipped them down

keveldinho says:

I’ve got the same issue, But you can only hear the rattling on some of the notes in a song. I’ve been told that the speaker is blown, especially if you hear the rattling right from the speaker. Anyone can feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

george blake says:

man im glad i scrolled down and saw your post, thanks brother

george blake says:

dude im saying the same thing, lol wtf

Patrick Brankey says:

You do NOT need to remove your seats. Pull your seats down and pop the panel out without any problems. Been there did this.

90TegTurbo says:

All grand prixs with the 8 speaker system,2 5.25 and tweets in front doors and 6x9s & 4″ in rear deck have a built in dedicated amp that pushes only lowes to 6x9s and highs to 4″,so if you change your 6x9s in a 8 spkr system with full range,3-4way 6×9 speakers it will be a waste of time because the factory amp only pushes low/bass to 6x9s,highs to 4″ round speakers..just thought i’d share that info.

CrazyNickOO7 says:

I just did this with my 02 grand prix and the speakers rattle really bad. I tightened the screws really tight but the speakers only stop rattling when i press down on them with my hands. would this be something with the speaker housing then?

Turbo231 says:

Keep at it…use a light lubricant if you can to help free them.

Stump78duke says:

I Have a 2005 Bonneville and I can not get the bolts undone….. any tips?

JOSH JONES says:

can you tear off the plastic cover if you’re not planning on using it?

Turbo231 says:

I’m not sure, I’ve always heard warning about the fancier systems, not sure if more wires or involved or what.

William Smith says:

Does it work with the Monsoon speakers as well

sherlockmutt says:

I said some VERY unkind things about GM while I was removing the back seat cushion! But I did finish this job, my new speaker works, and this video made it a lot easier. Thanks for your instruction!

C Edwards says:

the hardest part of removing the seat is the getting back part up and out after unscrewing them… putting it back on is a trip aswell

Robert Shaw Jr. says:

Mine Isnt Bose But i have 8 Speakers 2 Tweeter, The 2 Door Speakers And 4 In the back Where yours Are the 6x9s are for bass in my car and there are 4 inch speakers for sound

Jason Brandt says:

Thanks for the video, even though I don’t need to change my speakers nor do I have a 2002 Grand Prix. I do however have a 2003 Grand Prix (which is similar enough from the looks of it), and this was the best video I could find that showed what was necessary to get that rear cover off that will allow me to get to the high-mount brake light assembly. 🙂

SkeeterTheSkeeter says:

Are these rear deck speakers or jus rear speakers?

RyRyin303 says:

done. And boy was it worth it 🙂

RyRyin303 says:

6 by 9, but you can get adaptors that fit most sized speakers.

chancesGLEC14 says:

What were the sizes of the rear back speakers?

RyRyin303 says:

seriously? lol id much rather do it myself. how long you think itll take?

Turbo231 says:

Yes…and its so hard.

RyRyin303 says:

You have GOT to be fucking kidding me. I have to remove the seats?

Turbo231 says:

Most any 2 wire GM speaker…so yes unless it’s a bose system.

isabelladillon14 says:

Would this work with a 94 grand am? :p

Turbo231 says:

Probably…if they are basic speakers.

TheDeathSentence1 says:

Will this work for a 04 GTO?

Rudy Serna says:

Nice video. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Turbo231 says:

Don’t see why not, especially if you get pretty new ones.

Hobbsy776 says:

Can I take off the plastic cover so I can see the speakers?

Turbo231 says:

Canadian Tire.

Tommy Banning says:

Where did u get your speakers at

BJSamari1 says:

Thanks a lot bro for all your help took me like an hour an a half to perform this

Turbo231 says:

It will work on the back of most regular GM cars.

CrashJon2 says:

Idk if this will work on a 95 gp

TheKidWiiz says:

will this work in a 2001 grand am

Matthew Muzzy says:

id feel like a jack wagon after i seen this lol.

Tiroth77 says:

I apologize for him

Aaron Lundmark says:

i think these speakers blow way to easy. when my step dad bought the 98 gp gt. the back 6x9s and right front door are almost gone. for this to be a 02, its kinda weird that they didnt add the 4 inch or whatever it is, along next to the 6x9s. Ours has them. wonder why that dont?

Aaron Lundmark says:

if you dont want the bose speakers, i will gladly take thoes off your hands! the amp, the speakers, hell even the wiring harnes 😉 please, give me a message if you still have them or if their not BLOWN. im sure their gonna come with a price but i wanna know so please please let me know if you reallly dont want them. Thnks

Dirtrider760 says:

hahaha makes sense

Turbo231 says:

Yes…she was 10 at the time.
