I had a 2004 Vibe. Best dang car I have ever owned. It died on me while driving through Quincey, Florida a couple of years ago with what I think was a connecting rod bearing failure of some sort. I had to leave it there. All original except the 5 speed transmission and clutch with 280,000 miles on the car. I'm tearing up… I gotta go….

How's she goin'? Great tip on holding the bolt in the socket!!! Wouldn't it be nice to have tiny hands!!! Take care!!!

Would also mention returning the old starters core. Also rather than the entire starter being shot it could be just the solinoid. Anyway good presentation for diyers that haven't under taken a starter change.

One last bit, ensure not only the mounts on the new look like the old, but also the posts or plug that the wires connect to. Some fluid film or dielectric grease is a good adder as well.

I probably missed it but you do want to disconnect the battery before removing and installing new starter? I don't know for sure because I'm a motorped kind of guy.
